Round 9 - Supporting the Singleton Roosters

18 Jun 2023 by Tod Brealey

Hello Bombers

I hope that you are looking forward to a great day of footy.

A special thank you to the u9 and u15 players and their families for playing at Heathcote Oval on Friday night and supporting the Hawks switch on their lights for the first games under lights.

Thanks to GWS for the free tickets that many bomber families used for yesterday’s game. It was nice to see the Giants win.

AFL in Sydney is a small, but connected community. This weekend games will commence after a minutes silence to think of (or pray if that is your preferred approach) for the families, Singleton Roosters and the wider community who have been impacted by the Hunter Valley bus tragedy last weekend.

The Bombers will share the following message before our home games.

The Miranda Bombers together with the united AFL junior clubs of Sydney and Sutherland Shire have been shocked and saddened by the bus tragedy in the Hunter Valley and the loss that the community has suffered.

We send our deepest condolences to all those affected by the accident, especially those from the Singleton Roosters AFL club.

As a mark of respect to the victims of the crash, our players will wear black arm bands. In addition, we will now observe one minute of silence as we support and think of the families of those who have experienced such tremendous loss.

Best regards

Tod
President MAFC
