I hope that you have enjoyed a relaxing school holiday and are looking forward to another round of footy.

It has been a big week at the club with some of our auskickers playing at the SCG on Thursday night with a few of the players backing up after an AFL school holiday program that had over 200 players running around at the Hangar.

NAIDOC Week
Over the midseason break, NAIDOC week was celebrated. The theme for this year was ‘For our Elders’.
Elders have played, and continue to play, an important role and hold a prominent place within communities and families. They are cultural knowledge holders, trailblazers, nurturers, advocates, teachers, survivors, leaders, hard workers, and loved ones to many.
In 2023, now more than ever, Elders play an important role in guiding younger generations and current day leaders, through advocacy and activism.
The struggles Elders have faced help the new generation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders move forward. This NAIDOC Week, For Our Elders pays respects to the Elders lost and to those who continue fighting for us across all Nations and pay homage to them."
The 2023 NAIDOC week award winner for innovation was Shannon Motlop who after retiring as an AFL player has created an indigenous food and beverage company, you can learn more here

Girls Gala Day
The men’s AFL season is approaching finals, and the preseason for the AFLW has just commenced with round 1 starting in early September. To build the excitement for the upcoming season and to provide an opportunity for girls to try AFL, tomorrow the AFL is hosting a girl’s auskick event at Ramsgate between 10 and 12.
