Hello Bombers

Last weekend was a massive weekend of footy. The u11 boys, u14 and u16 girls and the u14 boys joint venture with Bangor and Heathcote won their games and are going to grand finals next Sunday.

The two other teams in finals, the u15 and u17 boys have a chance to qualify for a grand final tomorrow.

Monday night we have eight players up for association awards. I will share an update during the week with the results.

I wanted to give a huge shoutout to the U13 boys. Neither of our teams qualified for the finals (like GWS they went into the final round with a chance to qualify). The remarkable thing this group has done has been to grow their numbers by making footy fun. Over the years they increased to three teams (and the required supporting cast of coaches and managers and then became two teams this season in their first year of full field footy.

They don’t have the marker of success like a Premiership (though they have created some memories through some close final games), since Auskick the players, coaches, managers and families have created a welcoming environment, made training and games fun and then improved their skills by encouraging their mates.

Attached are some photos of the teams and below are some links to interviews from early in the season, that are worth watching. Nine players have already reached 50 games (six coaches are also close to 50 games plus auskick Adam, Al, Ben, Ben, Dan and Matt).

For me, they are the beacon of what junior community sports should be all about. Thank you U13 players and families for your contribution to the Bombers and Sydney AFL for many years.
